Picking a gaming laptop is harder than ever today, there are a ton of machines out there that look very good on the surface, but which one is the best choice is difficult to decide. That’s where reviews like the one posted recently for the new for 2011 title="Asus ROG G74SX" href="http://laptop-computer-planet.com/blog/tag/asus-rog-g74sx/">Asus ROG G74SX come in handy to consumers. With a review, from a competent source,  you’ll learn more than just how well the laptop performs with the latest titles you’ll learn about the precise quality of display and you’ll learn about little quirks in the given notebooks design.

Recently the very competent reviewers at href="http://www.notebookcheck.net/" target="_blank">Notebookcheck.net published a detailed review for the high-end 17.3″ Asus ROG G74SX (91079V) gaming laptop with a 3D display –remember you can buy the G74SX title="The ASUS ROG G74SX and G74SX 3D Laptops Are Up For Pre-Orders Now" href="http://laptop-computer-planet.com/blog/2011/06/18/the-asus-rog-g74sx-and-g74sx-3d-laptops-are-up-for-pre-orders-now/">with a 3D display and without one. In their detailed review they go over the laptops build quality, heat production, fan noise, display brightness and viewing angles, they go over component speeds (using benchmarking tools), and of course they go over the in-game performance of the machine at various settings and resolutions.

Not to spoil your fun and surprise in reading through href="http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Update-Asus-G74SX-Notebook.64348.0.html" target="_blank">the full review I’ll just discuss one issue, or rather non-issue, found with the Asus ROG G74SX (91079V) that was reviewed.

According to Notebookcheck.net the model reviewed featured a 2GHz Intel Core i7 2630QM quad-core CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 3GB GDDR5 discrete GPU, a 17.3-inch Full-HD 3D LED back-lit display, dual 750GB 7200rpm Seagate HDDs, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Now with those main features in full operating the G74SX remained “pleasantly quiet”, and the reviewer noted, “hardly any gaming notebook (especially when used for gaming) is as quiet as this”.

When they were measuring noise they were looking for fan noise, if you’ve ever used a computer of almost any kind for gaming then you know about fan noise and how disruptive it can be. It’s very good to see that Asus has been able to keep the fan noise down on their machine to well below 40dB no matter the situation (using data provided by Notebookcheck).

I suggest you read the full review href="http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Update-Asus-G74SX-Notebook.64348.0.html" target="_blank">here, because nothing is worse than getting a 00+ machine home to find you don’t like it at all.
