MSI has introduced a more capable central processing chip for their 17.3-inch high-end gaming notebook, the MSI G Series GT780DX.
Originally introduced to the market with the
title="MSI GT780DX launched, laptop gaming with a keyboard designed for gaming" href="http://laptop-computer-planet.com/blog/2011/09/06/msi-gt780dx-launched-laptop-gaming-with-a-keyboard-designed-for-gaming/" target="_blank">MSI GT780DX-215US model in September the gaming oriented GT780DX was powered by a 2.00 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.9 GHz) Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core processor. Today a new model was spotted at retailers online, the MSI GT780DX-406US (
href="http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?cid=6&id=337" target="_blank">models msimobile.com page), and the new model boasts a slightly faster chip with the 2.20 GHz (Turbo Boost 3.1 GHz) Intel Core i7-2670QM quad-core processor.
The new 2.20 GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU brings a faster base clock speed (2.20 GHz vs. 2.00 GHz) and a higher Turbo Boost clock of (3.1 GHz vs. 2.9 GHz), but that’s not all. The 2670QM holds a higher Bus/Core Ratio (multiplier) with 22 over the 2630QM that has a Bus/Core Ratio of 20.

Other than the new processor the features included with the new MSI GT780DX-406US model have stayed pretty consistent with the MSI GT780DX-215US. The new model still hangs-on to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M 1.5GB GDDR5 GPU that the GT780DX has been praised for, and the new model still has the Steelseries branded keyboard for gamers that sets the GT780DX apart from competing gaming notebooks thank to its gamers first key layout.
